Afsana Rahman, lecturer, in the Department of English at ISU is a motivated, flexible, hardworking, and proactive person with strengths in verbal and written communication. She is dedicated to providing fast, high-quality work and is also a freelance writer, translator and transcriptionist with strong editing skills.
Before joining ISU, Afsana Rahman worked for a while as a staff writer as well as reviewer of literary books at Dhaka Tribune’s literary magazine Arts & Letters. Her duties at Arts & Letters, Dhaka Tribune included editing, reviewing books, writing articles, and maintaining the online platform of the magazine as well as the social aspects of it.
Ms. Rahman is trilingual. She is proficient in Both English, German and her mother tongue Bangla. Being a speaker of several languages, therefore, equips Ms. Rahman with the ability to interact with diverse segment of people and to be compassionate towards different cultures.
Afsana Rahman is skilled in employing a differentiated approach to provide a student-centred learning environment that encourages resourcefulness and critical thinking while promoting tolerance, respect and emotional security for a diverse student group. Besides, Ms. Rahman looks forward to optimal utilisation of a range of diagnostic assessments to closely monitor progress towards the achievement of curriculum goals and student performance objectives at ISU.
