A seminar titled "Essential Skills for a Successful Textile Engineer" was organised by the ISU Textile Club of International Standard University on Thursday afternoon at the university's Mohakhali campus.
The event was held to strengthen students' professional competencies and prepare them for leadership roles in the textile industry.
The session was presided over by Professor Md Abul Kashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Chairperson of the Department of Textile Engineering. ISU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan joined as the chief guest.
Addressing students, Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan said the global textile sector is expanding rapidly, creating increasing opportunities for skilled professionals. He urged students to build technical knowledge and practical experience alongside their studies to achieve long-term career growth.
ISU Treasurer Professor H T M Quader Newaz advised students to develop leadership qualities and an entrepreneurial mindset in addition to preparing for employment. "Perseverance, practical skills and professional integrity are the keys to success in the textile industry," he said.
In his speech, Professor Md Abul Kashem pointed to the significant potential of Bangladesh's growing textile industry and stressed the importance of communication skills, teamwork and problem-solving abilities for future industry leaders.
ISU Lecturer Habiba Altaf of the Department of Textile Engineering anchored the seminar, while Lecturer Raiyan Khair Fuad delivered the keynote. Jaglul Hoque Mridha, Chairperson of the Department of Apparel Merchandising and Management, and Registrar Md Faizullah Kawsik attended alongside faculty members and students.
